Co-founded in 2011 by Ji’Nan University, a top ten university in China, JNC Summer International School (“JNC”) offers college-level courses to students seeking to study abroad in China and Taiwan during the summer months. JNC is the largest international summer school of its kind.
JNC currently offers summer education abroad programs in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taichung, and Xi’an. Each program provides an array of high-quality courses taught by faculty from JNC’s academic partner institutions in the U.S. and Canadian. Each course also has a dedicated teaching assistant who assists faculty members as needed with teaching preparation and classroom management.
Each JNC program offers approximately thirty, 5-week courses. Courses are mostly first- or second-year offerings, with the majority fulfilling undergraduate general education course requirements. Instruction adheres to standard North American expectations for contact hours and credit.
Students typically enrol in the equivalent of 3 to 12 academic credits, for which, upon completion of the academic coursework, each receives an official transcript issued by the U.S. or Canadian partner institution. Students generally seek transfer credit pre-approval at their home institutions before enrolling with JNC. Due to prolonged travel restrictions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, online course delivery has proven successful and popular among JNC students.
Students are primarily Chinese nationals who are already matriculated in degree-seeking programs at U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities. Summer study allows these students to jumpstart their progress to graduation while fostering peer networks in China to be leveraged upon their eventual return home to China. Enrollment represents a broad diversity of undergraduate students attending reputable institutions across North America, such as McGill University, Minnesota State University, Purdue University, University of Connecticut, University of Toronto, University of Washington, etc.

JNC is an outstanding program that students will find delightful as a summer academic experience. It offers the rigor that is needed through an administration that is committed to excellence in the delivery of the program and the selection of faculty of which many return summer after summer, which is an indication of their commitment and enthusiasm for the program. As an academic with vast teaching experiences at U.S. universities and as a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University in the U.S. for both my Master's and Doctoral degrees respectively, I am very selective about where I choose to teach. I enjoy teaching JNC students as a Professor for the Program, the university locations where the JNC Program offers academic experiences, and all aspects of the JNC Program including the wonderful cultural events and the enthusiastic and hard working staff who make every effort to ensure that JNC is an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Students will not regret their summer academic experience with JNC where they will earn college credits based on excellent courses offered by JNC and have the summer experience of a lifetime! I look forward to another JNC summer, and look forward to meeting many new JNC students!
lf you can form net works and contacts while you are student, if your other students are also well connected, they will help you get connected in the future. You know as you go through life, the friendships are almost as important as the content of your education.
We give them knowledge, we give them methods, the strategies and so on, and then we say okay, you choose what is best for you. That enables them to make the best decision and have the best process in regard to that, too. That will be success. They always say I want to be successful.
I was so lucky to join the JNC intern team this year. Our work started with many difficulties, however, we have overcome all of them together with the efforts of every member of our team. It surprised me that, in such a short time, we got familiar with each other and cooperated well. In JNC, I met many excellent friends and professors of different charms. Every day of working here has made my days of this July more meaningful, and it enriched my summer and made it a very special one for me. Thanks for such an experience, it brought me a lot of precious memories and working experience, and it made me feel that I was getting better every day being together with everyone else here! I Love JNC!
As the first real internship outside of school in my life, working as a TA in JNC for the past five weeks made me truly feel the responsibility of an educator. As a TA, I tried to think about how to help my students understand the concepts and, as much as possible, help them relate what they were learning to the real world through my own efforts. My major is sociology and education, and through this practical experience, I am having a further understanding of education. I appreciated the working atmosphere that the OA and supervisors worked hard to create, which was quite different from what I had previously envisioned - everyone here was willing to share their experiences and offer help when others encountered any problems. This kind of warm feeling before entering the real society made me realize that, choosing a good team is equivalent to gaining the happiness that really belongs to me. If there is a chance, I believe we will meet each other again, thanks for this wonderful summer!
The weather was hot in July, but the fantastic time I spent in JNC brought me the heat of enthusiasm much higher than the temperature. This month, under the instructions of the responsible professors, I was able to efficiently complete the courses that take one semester to complete in an American university, and successfully transferred the credits. At the same time, I was able to learn and communicate with peers from all over the world, which broaden my horizons a lot. Of course, this month's experience was much more than that - the music festival, basketball game, food tour, and other activities organized by JNC have provided me with opportunities to discover the beauty of Guangzhou, and to know more about myself. There are so many unforgettable memories in this single month, I really hope that time can go slower in this month, see you next year JNC!
